Background
Ben joined 243 (Wessex) Field Hospital in 2006 as a reservist and has served with them since. He is a consultant anaesthetist, deploying on Op HERRICK in 2008 both on MERT and in the Hospital at Camp Bastion.
After a tour in 2010 at Kandahar working under American command in the Multinational Medical Facility on HERRICK 11, Ben completed a further MERT tour in 2012 on HERRICK 17.
He is a consultant anaesthetist in Swindon and lives near Cirencester. Based on a case he experienced on MERT Ben wrote a paper for the Journal of Trauma about how to improve chest fluid drainage (thoracostomy) and its place in wider practice.
